Brief Introduction

Jiangyin manufacturing & exporting base of new material products has been built in the backdrop of 'Plan 445' actively implemented by the local government. Thanks to the efforts made by all sides, the scale of new material industry has been seen ever growing these years. In 2010, the new industry has registered RMB 66.2 billion of sales revenue and RMB 8 billion of tax and profit, enjoying the annul growth of 16.55% and 25.98% respectively. As the number of exporting companies in this industry reached 179 at the end of 2010, the new material industry in Jiangyin has boasted a fast growth of 91.53% last year, exceeding $1.26 billion in sales volume, accounting for 13.38% of the total exports of all industries in Jiangyin and expanding its market into 119 countries or regions around the world.

The close cooperation between enterprises and universities or research institutes is now playing a more and more apparent role in helping the new industry grow. There has been a major breakthrough in the research and development of 'memory alloy', a joint project between Falson company and Harbin Industrial university. Jiangyin East China Decoration Material Co. Ltd, South-east University and Shanghai Southeast China Institute of Technology have successfully developed gold-like decorative polymer film and leather-like decorative polymer film, greatly improving their 'soft power'. Xingceng Steel has broken the world record in the field of 'large diameter continuous cast alloy steel round billet' with its successful development of 900mm continuous cast round billet; What's more, they have also broken foreign company's monopoly over the technology of producing SC82A Steel cord reputed as 'the brightest pearl on the crown of metal products'. At present, there have emerged a group of highly competitive enterprises with their own specialities and good names in the new material industry. Xingceng Special Steel has been the leading manufacturer and the largest exporter of special steel products for the last ten years . Falson-hopesun Group has enjoyed its dominating role in the production of high-quality metal products and optical fiber fabricated bars, ranking No.1 in the whole industry on the list of comprehensive economic and technological index for the past 16 years. Sanfangxiang Group has been the leading producer and exporter of polyester clips in China for many years.
